Reykjavík morning at leisure. The city center offers many great sights and the city is unique in so many ways. You won’t find the towering skyscrapers of America or the age-old narrow streets, which time has seemingly forgotten and seemingly unchanged since Roman times, as in Europe. Reykjavík is somewhere in between and yet miles away. With its small quirky houses and both tiny and open spaces. It is colorful, modern, charming and old all at the same time. So, don’t forget to bring your camera along, you are bound to find many great photo opportunities.

Friðheimar Restaurant & Tomato Farm
Tomatoes are the theme of Friðheimar cuisine – and that’s not surprising, since three different varieties of tomato are cultivated in the greenhouses, where food is served among the tomato plants. A unique food experience in a restaurant located in the middle of a greenhouse, with tomatoes growing all around you! Tomato soup and fresh baked bread as well as other goodies, in this charming environment among the tomato plants. Visits to the greenhouses are available all year round for pre-booked groups. Visitors gain an insight into the processes of greenhouse horticulture, with a short and informative talk on the subject – and in fact it is quite remarkable that it should be possible to grow vegetables in this cold climate, by creating warm Mediterranean conditions, all year round, through the long dark winter. The Atrium also includes an exhibition about the use of geothermal heating in Icelandic horticulture. And visitors can take away delicious food souvenirs such as Tomato Jam, Cucumber Salsa and Tomato Drink.
Laugarás Lagoon
The newly opened Laugarás Lagoon—launched in autumn 2025—is the latest gem along the Golden Circle and a perfect final stop on this scenic route. Here, you can relax and unwind while bathing in warm geothermal waters surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. Nestled among mountains and overlooking the Hvítá River, this elegant two-level lagoon seamlessly blends into the landscape, offering a tranquil and immersive experience in one of Iceland’s most picturesque settings.

Skálakot Horseback riding - private
This horseback riding tour to Írárfoss waterfall starts from our Manor in Skálakot. Includes all the gear you need for the horseback riding, such as helmet, boots, and rain gear if needed. After a short briefing, we start to gear up the horses as we head out for nature. We ride along hills and mountains nearby Skálakot towards the waterfall Írárfoss (The Irish waterfall). Which is a beautiful 30-meter high waterfall in a small river running down from the highlands below the glacier Eyjafjallajökull. The name of the waterfall is related to a man from Ireland, called Ásólfur Alskik who lived there at the settlement time of Iceland for more than 1200 years ago.

At the waterfall, you will get the change to take some pictures and enjoy the surrounding before heading back to Skálakot. Afterward, at the Manor Hotel, you can stop for refreshments and food. It is the perfect place to relax after the riding tour and enjoy some of our local food and refreshments. Although a great first-time experience. Or the perfect tour for people that do not have much time but still want to enjoy horseback riding as well as beautiful nature. Skálakot is one of the top breeding farms for the Icelandic horse. We have been running horseback riding tours for more than three decades. Therefore we have a lot of experience and always try our best to meet the needs of the people we have for each tour.
From Vík to The Glacier Lagoon. Time and daylight permitting you would visit some of these places.

Day 6 -
Glacier lagoon area
B
Private driver-guide for exploring the region, with Ice Cave and private glacier hike.

Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon & Diamond Beach
Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon is a recent one, the result of a warming climate. The surface is at sea level and sea water flows into the lagoon at high tide. Huge blocks of ice constantly break off the glacier, Breiðamerkurjökull, and large icebergs float on the lagoon. The lagoon is not very wide but it is up to 250 meters deep which makes it the deepest lake in Iceland. Breiðamerkurjökull is an outlet of the Vatnajökull glacier. Diamond Beach is a strip of black sand belonging to the greater Breiðamerkursandur glacial plain, located by Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon on the South Coast of Iceland. Here, the icebergs which fill Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon wash up on shore, standing dazzling and defiant in stark contrast to the black sand beach. It is, therefore, a favorite among photographers, nature-lovers, and wildlife-enthusiasts. Many seals call this beach home, and it is one of the best places in the country to see orcas from the shore.
Skaftafell Ice Cave & Glacier Walk
On this action packed day tour, you will explore the naturally formed ice caves and ice tunnels of a stunning outlet glacier. The ice caves, only accessible in winter, open up for exploration when the melt water underneath the glacier freezes over and leaves behind these ice tunnels. After meeting your highly trained and certified glacier guide in Skaftafell, you will be fitted with the required glacier gear we provide, like an ice axe, ice spikes and a helmet. On the way to the glacier, your guide will lead you on an easy 3.5 km scenic and educational trail in Vatnajökull National Park. The information on this flat trail focuses on the area's disappearing glacier and geology. As your guide leads you on to the icy landscape for your glacier walk, you will learn about how they are formed. While in the ice caves, you will have plenty of time to take pictures of the breathtaking surroundings. The melting ice, vivid blue color and tranquility inside of the cave are what make these features of the glacier so spectacular. After exploring the cave, you will return up to its surface. There, your guide will lead you through the ever-changing glacial landscape and crevasses. You end off with a view of the spectacular glacier lagoon before returning to our Base in Skaftafell. What do I need to bring? Hiking boots with ankle support, warm clothing, wind & waterproof outer layers and snacks.
Day 7 -

B

Nestled on the top of a nearby hill, the church is considered the safest place to escape to in case of a sudden Katla Volcano eruption and flood. Because of its mild climate, Vik is home to many different species of birds and marine wildlife like the adorable puffins. The puffins are only during the summer.
