My trip to Quito and Galapagos was an amazing experience and I would jump at the chance to go again. The things we saw in Quito were just as extraordinary as the stuff in the Islands, and all of it was even more fun than I had pictured. In Quito, we did many fun and interesting activities such as visiting the market, the tour of the city, visiting the chocolate factory, horseback riding, seeing a cool statue, and seeing the equator. My favorite activities were probably the market and horseback riding because I love seeing the cultural foods they sell at the market, and I take horseback riding lessons but had to reschedule them because of the trip, so it was really nice to be back on a horse. One thing that surprised me was that the equator makes you lose strength when you stand directly on it. Another thing that surprised me was that we were able to get 6 bags of fruit for $5.00! That would be like $50.00 at home. The chocolate factory was very cool because we got a tour of how they make chocolate, and we got to taste at least a dozen different flavors of chocolate!
The Galapagos Islands were an amazing place and it had the most interesting things there. My favorite part was the wildlife. I loved the way the animals just came right up to your feet. I also loved the warm weather, because I live in Wisconsin and had just had 4-5 months of cold weather. We snorkeled every day and got to swim with sharks, sea turtles, sea lions, and a large variety of fish. The blue footed boobies were another part of the experience and we got to see them do their mating dance! It was awesome. We went for a hike every day, and we got to see many animals on the trail such as flamingos, marine iguanas, sea lions, and birds (including blue footed boobies). We had an amazing guid, Galo, and he showed us all of the wildlife and scenery. The meals on our yot were delicious, and the cabins were very cozy. All in all, our trip to Quito and the Galapagos was an amazing experience, and I would go back any time.
